Data · Tennessee AI Law Watch · 114th General Assembly · Updated November 5, 2026
11 Tennessee laws passed in 2023 through 2026 deal with artificial intelligence, and 7 of the 20 AI measures filed in 2025 and 2026 became law. Most target specific uses rather than setting general rules for how businesses use AI. Source: Tennessee General Assembly bill records. This is not legal advice.
What it means
Tennessee has not passed a broad law that governs how businesses use AI. The laws on the books aim at specific harms and studies. Filed bills cluster around criminal offenses (3), education (3), consumer protection (2), computers and electronic processing (2). The 2026 session has adjourned, so bills that did not pass would need to be filed again in 2027.

Each week the page runs the General Assembly's own keyword search for "artificial intelligence", "deepfake", "likeness" in the current and previous General Assembly, opens every matching bill's history, and groups House and Senate companions. A bill counts as law when the Secretary of State has assigned it a public chapter number. Bill summaries are the legislature's own abstracts, shortened.
Federal AI bills are not included yet. The Tennessee AI Advisory Council publishes the state's AI action plan at tn.gov/finance/ai-council.html.
